What is the Casimir Effect?

What is the Casimir Effect? The Casimir effect is a small attractive force that acts between two close parallel uncharged conducting plates. It is due to quantum vacuum fluctuations of the electromagnetic field. The effect was predicted by the Dutch physicist Hendrick Casimir in 1948. According to the quantum theory, the vacuum contains virtual particles which are in a continuous state of fluctuation (see physics FAQ article on virtual particles). Casimir realised that between two plates, only those virtual photons whose wavelengths fit a whole number of times into the gap should be counted when calculating the vacuum energy. The energy density decreases as the plates are moved closer, which implies that there is a small force drawing them together. The attractive Casimir force between two plates of area A separated by a distance L can be calculated to be,           π h c F = -------------- A       ...

Differences between Plant and Animal Hormones

Plant vs Animal Hormones The form and function of multi cellular organisms requires efficient communication between cells, tissues, organs etc. In these organisms, almost all the processes depend on the chemical signalsfrom one part of the organism to another. Plant Hormones Plants too produce signalling molecules called hormones. Plant growth regulators are organiccompounds, which are either natural or synthetic. They can modify or control certain specificphysiological processes within the plant. Those are called hormones if they are produced within theplant. Plant hormones are a group of naturally occurring organic substances, which influencephysiological processes at low concentrations. The effects of plant hormones are more often localized to the target tissues. When a hormone binds to a specific receptor, it stimulates theactivation of chemical and transport steps. This in turn generates second messengers. They cantrigger various responses of the cell to the original signal. A...

How Hackers Redirect Web Traffic with DNS Spoofing

How Hackers Redirect Web Traffic with DNS Spoofing Welcome back my fellow hackers! There have been some articles I’ve been wanting to write regarding social engineering, more specifically, stealing passwords. But, in order to do that, there are some basic concepts and methods we needs to have a grasp of. The first of these concepts is  Man in the Middle Attacks . Since we’ve already covered that, we’re going to cover the next concept, DNS spoofing. First, we’ll cover what DNS is exactly, then we’ll quickly discuss the anatomy of the DNS spoofing attack, and finally, we’ll perform the attack! So, let’s get started! What is DNS? This question is actually fairly simple. DNS stands for  D omain  N ame  S ystem. You know when you go to a website using a browser, you type in a URL instead of the IP address of the server? That’s DNS working it’s magic! What DNS does is it keeps track of what IP addresses reside at what URLs, that way we don’t have to rememb...
